The coastal region of Georgia has a relatively moderate climate. Average temperatures of the islands are slightly lower than on the mainland. Sea breezes offer relief from intense summer heat. Daily maximum temperatures in July and August (the warmest months) are usually in the 80s and low 90s. The islands are the only part of the state south of Atlanta that has mean daily maximum temperatures below 90°F in July and August (Carter 1967).

Winters are relatively mild and short. The average minimum temperature for December and January (the coldest months) is about 43°F. On the average, there are 305 freeze-free days at Brunswick and 267 at Savannah (Carter 1967)
Tybee Island is a unique small coastal barrier island only 11 miles east of Savannah, GA. The origin of the unusual name of "Tybee" is in itself a legend. Native Americans came to the island to hunt and fish, and gave it the name Tybee, which is a Euchee Indian word meaning "salt."
Approximately 2,500 locals call Tybee home with the summer population swelling to 8,000 at times. Tybee has many restaurants - from fine dining to favorites with a more casual atmosphere. Our rental packet will include our personal favorites.
Beach lovers from all over the world come to the Tybee Island beaches, Lighthouse, Marine Science center, Museums, Fort Screven and nearby Fort Pulaski.
Tybee Island's history is reflected by theLighthouse, constructed in 1739. The structure, which stands today is 154 feet high.
Numerous historic attractions on or near the island range from Fort Pulaski National Monument, Fort Pulaski was a Civil War - era fort and is now operated by the National Park Service, to the famous Savannah Historic District, located west of Tybee Island.
Come and explore the island's newest addition, the Tybee Pier and Pavilion, located on the strand between 15th and Tybrisa streets.

Tybee is a peaceful 15 minute drive over the marsh from historic Savannah, GA. Savannah is the setting for the popular novel, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."
From 1897 to 1947, Fort Screven was an integral part of America's coastal defense system. Troops trained and stood guard on Tybee Island throughout the Spanish-American War of 1898, World War I, and World War II. In 1947 the Fort was closed and sold to the town of Tybee.

What a blustery weekend, but a special one, too.
A full moon and the Lighthouse both in view from the front porch. Visits to our favorite spots on Tybee were once again terrific. The Quarter, The Breakfast Club, Doc's The North Beach Grill all warmed us up.
It was also a big weekend in Savannah, the Film Fesitval and the Telfar Artfest were great.
An unannounced Shriner;s Parade complete with 2 camels had us laughing and smiling.
The Company A was a real treat. So colorful and wonderfully ecletric

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "My Coco Hut". It really was an all-inclusive vacation, from the stocked kitchen to the toys to the very short hike to the beach.
Staying here made visiting Tybee Island and Savannah a breeze.
We all got nice tans and even Higgins, our pug, was sad to go home. Fond memories of "Our Coco Hut" will remain with us forever
PS The door locs were a little hard to figure out. Please make a little more accessible

argh!!! Pirate Festival 2006
My Tybee Blue is a great little beach house.
It was just the right size and a great location to the beach and places to eat. We enjoyed the easy access to everything. The back patio is great for relaxing, such a nice touch. The dogs enjoyed the yard, too.
We'll be back and we highly recommend it to others.

My wife (Caterine) , two daughters (Paige and Jayden) and Paige's best friend (Angie) had a wonderful time!!!
As my 8 yr old, Jayden, said
"most amazing trip ever"....
The girls chased crabs at night on the beach, watched dolphins in the morning and rode the waves in the afternoon.
There is no need to mention the "Ocean Villa" as it met all our needs. What really needs to be noted is all the little details which makes this trip special.
Like the beach toys and chairs, the kite in the closet, the CDs and never having to do without because you already had it ere.
One special note from Angie: "Don't run screaming from a crab and drop your cell phone in the ocean - it won't work again"
This trip was way past due (especially after the Dawgs lost to Tennessee!!)

Today is our last day here. We had a wonderful time. The house is really nice and comfortable. One thing we had problems with is the toilet in the master bedroom. The refil water keeps running after it is flushed.

The festivities at the pier today were nice and the weather is beautiful Oh My How friendly and hospitable the people are here on Tybee.
The laughter, compassion and love of the island is infectious.

We jhad a really great time on Tybee Island.
Weather was perfect! We did the dolphin tour, went to the pier walked through the Marine Science Center, went to the lighthouse and ate at the Crab Shack (okay) and the Sundae Cafe (good).

This was a wonderful vacation. We have taken our children to Disney and a lot of other places but they loved Tybee Island. We could not have asked for a better place to stay while there. The house was perfect!! It is walking distance to the beach, the main shopping area and some great places to eat. We were there during the Pirate's Fest weekend. We were able to sit in the front yard to watch the parade. We even met some people from the neighborhood and they were all very nice. It could not have gotten better! Everything we needed to function was in the house. All we had to buy was groceries. We are actually planning to visit Tybee once a year. Cant wait to go back.....by the way the beach was great too!!

Just wanted to leave a short note letting you know how much we enjoyed our week in Tybee and especially the absolutely adorable Ocean Villa.
It is decorated just great and very well stocked with anything a vacationer could need.
The sunrises and sunsets just cannot be beat.
We thoroughly enjlyed the Crab Shack and AJ's
When you don't want to go out or cook - It's vacation
go around the corner and get the Burger platter from Sugar Shack.
We also tried Dolphin Reef. It was ok at best.
Do not get soft shell crab at Stingrays
Once again, we truly had a great time and hope to be a repeat renter.
